This is for everyone who is sick of trying to be consistent.

Somebody said that “consistency” is important and then people made it a thing.

And maybe you believed it too because it worked at some point for you.

But did it really?

Or has it been increasingly difficult trying to be “consistent” in the way it's showcased?

What if instead of helping you, it’s been making you feel like shit so you don’t actually ever improve because you’re stuck feeling guilty about not being consistent?

I’m not talking to those who love routines or thrive in being regular.

I’m talking to everyone else who’s been made to feel like crap because they don’t have the so-called willpower to stay consistent.

I’m talking to those who feel ashamed despite all the effort they put into trying to be consistent.

I’m talking to those who hear their inner cry for not wanting to do something, and think they’re “procrastinating.”

I’m talking to all of us who didn’t realize that just because someone somewhere said it, it doesn’t apply to everyone.

And I know this because I spent years being so critical of myself and read all the books, tried all the methods to make myself “consistent”… and never noticed that I’d made way more progress everywhere else except the one thing I was forcing myself to be consistent in 😭

I felt like shit.

I felt guilty.

I felt like a failure, because I thought I had to be consistent, instead of noticing how I was shining everywhere else.

One small shift helped me embrace my inconsistency as my superpower, and I haven’t looked back. And in this blog, I’m sharing how I learnt to thrive being irregular and the mindset shifts that helped me get there.

Go read... Because it’s time to realize your "Irregularity is not a flaw, it’s your edge."

We don’t look at the moon and tell it to shine the same each day, do we?

Then why do we constantly criticize ourselves for not being consistent?

Almost every second question or challenge I hear about is - I am not consistent.

At what point do we stop and realize - Inconsistency is not a flaw.

Maybe you were never meant to be regular 🤯

Most people think being “irregular” means you’re inconsistent, unreliable, undisciplined, or too scattered to stay on track.

But what if irregularity isn’t chaos at all?

What if it’s intelligence?

What if it’s intuition?

What if it’s your system working exactly the way it was designed to?

Because the truth is: you’re not inconsistent.

You’re cyclical.

You’re seasonal.

You work in phases.

You flow.

Just like the moon.

And honestly?

Most people are actually like this… they’re just trying really hard to pretend they’re not. Or trying to match up to a standard that was portrayed to be the best, just coz some dude said it in a book somewhere 😒

The world worships “consistency.”

Daily habits.

Daily routines.

Daily discipline.

But some of us simply don’t operate like that, and nothing is wrong with us … but we think there is.

Irregularity is not a flaw. It is your edge.

It means you operate based on:

  • intuition

  • natural momentum

  • bursts of energy

  • seasonal rhythms

  • excitement, intrigue, and inspiration

And that doesn’t make you unreliable.

It is what makes you alive.

I mean, you flow with where energy takes you instead of telling yourself to do something you don’t really want to!

You do what you want and when you want it, instead of listening to “rules” that say you got to work a certain way.

You thrive in flow, and feel caged and claustrophobic thinking of schedules & rigid plans.

You’ve been keeping yourself small when you listen to those who want you to stay that way.

I know all of it, coz I was exactly like that.

I’m the most irregular person I know 😆😅

I spent years trying to be consistent and regular, and never felt more guilty and ashamed of myself.

I created so much agony for myself thinking I had no will power - Yes, i read books on it too thinking there was something wrong with me!!!!

That’s what “popular standards” do to you - Make you think you are flawed.

Decades of trying to be someone I was not and hating myself for it…

One thing changed everything for me - Embracing my Irregularity.

I never looked back.

No more trying to be consistent.

Coz guess what, I was thriving being irregular.

And these are the three mindset shifts that helped me stop forcing myself to be consistent and thrive in my own rhythm. Keep reading 💜

1. Effort Until It Becomes Effortless

Since I realized that it's time to let go of this need to be ‘consistent’… This has become a kind of mantra for me - "Effort until it becomes effortless."

I realized that's how I had excelled at things in the past.

What do I mean? 🧐

Whether it’s my programs or for myself - I focused a lot on getting practice done until it became an automatic action.

Meditation, speaking in an Impactful manner, showing up on camera, nailing sales calls, delivering amazing sessions, cooking, sketching, creating data analytic dashboards and a lot more lol😅

Whatever I wanted to get good at, I put in the effort until it got to be easy. I wasn't consistent but when and where I push and keep going is in the initial stages.

When I'm intrigued, feel that nudge, have that drive… I get going!

Effort until it became effortless.

This is my system for everything.

If something excites me, I pour into it.

I give effort while it feels right.

I follow that momentum.

And at some point, it naturally becomes effortless.

I don’t force myself to be consistent every day.

I follow the energy and when the energy goes quiet, I rest.

And guess what, when the energy is back, automatically you do the thing - coz your mind is now wired that way! 😉

2. Bare Minimum Is Enough

Talking about energy - there are days when you feel so productive and have never-ending energy to do everything and more. And then there's days when you want to be a potato 👀

Those cycles differ from person to person.

Mine look like 4 days of mad work and then 3 days of chilling 😄

But there's also sometimes, where for months I am in my zone.

And then months, when I'm just doing what needs to be done.

That is because - Not every season or every day is meant for max output.

Some days I’m in a burst.

Some days I’m in a dip.

And on those dip days? I give myself permission to do the bare minimum and let that be completely okay.

The non-negotiables. The bare minimum.

The things that you can't delegate, remove from your list or reschedule them. Just those.

And being okay with doing just that.

No guilt. No shame. No mental punishment.

Bare minimum is still movement.

Coz you know, when you are in your zone - you're going to get way more done than trying to slog through everything when you have no energy for it!

3. Macro Consistency >>> Micro

Consistency is subjective to the comparison we are doing.

If you compare day to day, you might not feel that you're consistent and you might give up if you miss a day!

If you compare week to week, you might actually feel more consistent if you do ‘whatever it is’ say thrice a week, then increase it to 4 and keep progressing.

If you are comparing month to month, you might feel consistent if you do ‘it’ 15 days a month or whatever number.

Now, imagine comparing year to year..

If last year, you did ‘it’ 0 times, but this year you've done it say 100 times….

That makes you consistent over this year!

This is what I mean - Macro vs Micro Consistency.

Trying to be consistent day after day, might not work for everyone.

Adds too much pressure. And most likely, you'll end up stopping if you miss a day or two. We know how it goes 😅

Most often, we are too stuck in the day to day, we don't see the big picture.

Try macro, zoom out and see the big picture, you'll see things very differently!

I started zooming out.

Instead of obsessing over yesterday or today… I looked at how my life actually moved over months.

Last year, I hardly made any art.

This year? I’ve made 50+ pieces.

Did it happen daily? Absolutely not.

But it happened.

That’s consistency too.

Same with video content, from hardly creating any videos to creating 120+ videos this year, I would say I've made more progress than if I were trying to be ‘consistently create video content’ say every week 👀

Macro consistency > micro perfection.

When I looked at my irregularity through a bigger lens, I realized:

My irregular rhythm works.

My creative bursts work.

My seasons work.

It was never inconsistency.

It was never failure.

It was always flow 💖

There's a lot more that also goes into this like accepting yourself, accepting your quirks as something special, learning to stop feeling guilty and letting go of perfection and what not.

But when you combine these mindset shifts - They are game changers!

They made my life infinitely better, and I hope they shift your perspective a bit too 🫶

One way, I wanted to help people lean into their irregularity was through creating - The Irregular Journal.

By the end of 2023, I was just done with all the planner and journal ads everywhere.

It felt like everyone was selling the idea that you had to be this perfectly consistent journaler to have your life together.

Not just for me, so many in my community were feeling that guilt of buying planners, that were hardly used!

So, I created The Irregular Journal out of that exact frustration and realization.

I wanted something that actually celebrates the way we naturally are - irregular & in flow!

The Irregular Journal is for you if you want to journal without the pressure or guilt. Go check it out 🫶 (P. S - It's a digital Notion journal that you can pick up whenever you want, write even just a line, and syncs across multiple devices coz you never know when that burst hits, right 😉)

You don’t have to keep fighting yourself.

You don’t have to follow rules that don’t match who you are.

Use these shifts, try them in your real life, and see how things start feeling easier.

And if you ever need support with this, I’m here :)

From one inconsistent & irregular person to another -

"Our Irregularity is not a flaw - it's by design, and it's our edge "
